New Course - Part 1: Getting ready for the General Data Protection Regulations

This course is highly recommended for Officers and Councillors.

The new regulations come into force in May 2018.

As they will strengthen current legislation and introduce new principles, we highly recommend that

all Councils have an understanding of GDPR well in advance of it coming into force and are ready in good time to comply

This course will help Councils get their systems and policies ready to comply.

It will introduce delegates to the new rights and provide an overall understanding of the requirements Including:

The Key Principles
New Individuals' rights inc:

Accountability and governance
The right to be informed
The right of access
The right to rectification
The right to erasure
The right to restrict processing
The right to data portability
The right to object
Rights related to automated decision making and profiling

The role of the ICO
Breach notification
Transfer of data

After the course we send the slides out electronically and we also include a pack containing 20 documents that will help you to comply with the new regulations.  This pack is free to all our delegates and also to our subscribers.

If you can not attend any of our courses but would like to buy our pack it is available on our LCPAS Store page.

Once the Government has agreed which of the the additional discretionary areas to adopt we will be introducing Part 2 of this course.

After which we will be running regular updates and live question sessions by Webinar.

We also offer full information audits for your council. This involves us going through all your hardcopy files and listing where your personal information is and also we look at your computers to assess your security. A hardcopy asset register and a full report is provided a few weeks after the audit.

Prices range from between £300 - £800 for parish councils and £800 - £2000 for town councils. This price is dependent on your assets, for example if you have a cemetery, allotments, a hall that is hired out, etc, all of these assets will increase the time that the audit takes.

We are also offering a service acting as the council’s Data Protection Officer. We will deal with access requests, compliance and data breaches and will keep you updated with the legislation, procedures, polices, forms and notices as required. The price for this is £300.00 for parish councils and £500.00 a year for town councils.

If you are interested in any of the above, please do not hesitate to contact us.
