Is your website provided by onesuffolk?

Many Town and Parish councils, as well as voluntary, charity and community groups, use the onesuffolk service to host their website.  If your organisation‚Äôs website is provided by onesuffolk, there are some important changes to the service that you need to be aware of.

All the current owners of onesuffolk websites were recently emailed a joint communication from Suffolk County Council (SCC) and Community Action Suffolk (CAS).  If you have a onesuffolk website and have not received this email please check your spam or junk folders, alternatively please contact onesuffolk.

The communication advises that from 1 November 2016, Suffolk County Council will cease to be the provider of the onesuffolk website service and Community Action Suffolk (CAS) will become the new provider.  As part of the plan to secure the future of the service, an annual charge will be introduced.  This charge covers a small fraction of the overall cost of running onesuffolk and is necessary to ensure the service can continue.  For Town and Parish councils this charge is ¬£50 + VAT per year.  If you choose to continue your onesuffolk website through CAS, the web hosting facility will not be disrupted by the transfer and your website address will remain the same.  If you choose not to continue your onesuffolk website or if CAS do not hear from you before the 1 November 2016, your site will be closed down and permanently deleted (no backups will be retained).

If, due to meeting schedules, you are unable to make your decision before the 1 November 2016 deadline please get in touch with CAS to let them know as soon as possible by calling 01473 345360 or emailing onesuffolk@communityactionsuffolk.org.uk.  As long as CAS are aware that you may have issues responding by this deadline, they can hold your site for you until after your meeting, if required.
